Strings Attached No. 2 - Golden Ball

is a mixed-media work from the Strings Attached collection and forms the counterpart to Black Ball – Strings Attached No. 1.

At the centre of the work is a matte, gold-coloured sphere. Glossy black threads run diagonally across the high-gloss golden surface, intersect around the sculptural form and create distinct linear elements in space.

The glossy surface and threads contrast with the matte surface of the sphere. Depending on the viewing angle and changing light, reflections, intersections and shadows emerge, altering the depth and perception of the work.

Together, Golden Ball and Black Ball form two contrasting positions: gold and black, light and shadow, gloss and matte depth stand in opposition while simultaneously complementing one another. In this way, the two works reflect the central idea of the series – visible and invisible connections, tension, and the forces that emerge between individual elements.
